Congrats on the retention offers!

Not to rain on the parade, but I'd be careful about doing this unless you really are okay with the account being closed. Even if you 'back out' on closing the card when they say they don't have any offers, I wouldn't be surprised if THEY then turn around and initiate a closure shortly after. I think it's a good way to get on their radar in a bad way, especially if they realize you're just fishing for stuff and are generally being an unprofitable customer.

Again, not trying to be a wet blanket, congrats so far, and I hope it continues to work out for you. I'd just personally advise caution.

Agreed. I'd only use retentions when I'm serious about cancelling/closing and truly feel like I need an offer to stay onboard. Doing it just for the sake of doing it is a little sleeze ball-ish.

I disagree.  I got a retention offer for my amex plat of 20k MR points w/ 3k spend in two months.  I was approved for Prestige and really thought about cancelling plat when AF came up and I did play amex against prestige and I didn't feel bad at all.

Business is business and it's all part of negotiating the best deals for using their credit product.  They really don't care about me and I don't about them.  We just have a credit relationship that's all.

You're right. Business is Business but I still have certain ethics and morals I stand for. I can't 'feel dirty' just to make a few extra points or get a retention offer.
